The Presidency has distanced itself from a rising variety of 2027 marketing campaign billboards that includes President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, describing the event as “untimely” and a breach of electoral legal guidelines.
In an announcement launched on Sunday, April 13, by Bayo Onanuga, Particular Adviser to the President on Data and Technique, the Presidency mentioned it had noticed “with dismay” the rising variety of such billboards in main cities, particularly Abuja and Kano.
“Value noting is that a few of these billboards with photos of the President and his spouse, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, emblazoned on them are arising in Abuja and Kano particularly,” the assertion learn.
Whereas acknowledging the continued help of loyal followers throughout the nation, the Presidency made it clear that President Tinubu and his deputy “don’t help any marketing campaign that breaches the legal guidelines of the land.”
“The electoral regulation that guides the conduct of elections and political campaigns forbids any type of marketing campaign for the 2027 normal elections,” the assertion added.
Onanuga warned that such untimely campaigning might “undermine the integrity of the electoral course of and create unfair benefits.” He confused that the President had not authorised any group or particular person to advertise his 2027 re-election ambition via any medium.

“Till the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) units the timetable for the 2027 elections, the President has not endorsed or authorised anybody or any group to mount a 2027 marketing campaign for him via any media channel—be it Out-of-Residence, print, digital, radio, or tv,” the assertion mentioned.
The Presidency, subsequently, urged these sponsoring the billboards to “stop instantly.”
It reiterated the administration’s present deal with governance, noting that President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima stay “totally dedicated to delivering the continuing activity of nation-building they’ve set for themselves.”
“This dedication is clear of their deal with {economic} revitalisation, human capital growth, infrastructural renewal, social funding, and nationwide safety,” the assertion famous.
The Presidency concluded by assuring Nigerians that the President would talk his political intentions on the applicable time.
“When INEC alerts that the processes for the 2027 elections can begin, President Tinubu will duly inform Nigerians of his plans,” Onanuga acknowledged.
